‘Bank melas’ organised to open students’ savings accounts

YUPIA, 20 May: Following instruction from the education commissioner, ‘bank melas’ were organised in various circles and subdivisions of Papum Pare district to open bank accounts for the students of the district.

According to reports, several banks, including the SBI, the Rural Bank, the Apex Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, the Union Bank of India, etc, participated in the melas and opened new accounts for students.

The students are expected to get their bank passbooks within the next 2-3 days.

The BRCs, CRCs, BEOs, principals and headmasters also participated in the melas to help the students in opening their accounts.

The melas will continue till 24 May, and will be organised at various locations in Mengio, Toru, Doimukh, Gumto, Balijan, Sangdupota, Leporiang, Sagalee, Parang and Silsango. (DIPRO)
