Union min chairs DISHA meeting

PASIGHAT, 6 Jun: Union MoS for New & Renewable Energy, Bhagwanth Khuba chaired the first quarter meeting of the East Siang District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committees (DISHA) at the DC’s conference hall here on Monday.

The heads of departments presented their achievement reports and apprised the minister of the physical and financial achievements under the centrally-sponsored schemes (CSS) implemented by their departments.

Okiam Moyong Borang, ADC Tatdo Borang and HoDs, Khuba exhorted all to “execute the flagship schemes and other developmental works diligently, so that the benefit of each and every scheme reaches the targeted groups in a time-bound manner.”

After reviewing the implementation of all CSS’ and projects, the union minister urged the DC to “ensure transparency and quality implementation in the district, as per the framed guidelines,” and added that the implementing agencies should also ensure that the public are made aware of all the available programmes and schemes sponsored by the central government.

“They should adopt appropriate steps to make follow-up success stories of beneficiaries who have been benefitted through various CSS schemes which would help them to generate income and employment to others directly or indirectly,” he said.

The minister also said that the Northeast “is a very important region of the country, and unless it is properly connected with the rest of India in every aspect, there would be no sense of unity and true development.”

“Ever since the Narendra Modi government came to power, we have taken forward the development of the Northeast in a phased manner by making them contributors to the development of the country,” Khuba said.

Gao on his part asked the officers to submit all the utilisation certificates on time, and to “update their respective portals to get necessary sanction of the fund.”
