One body recovered, search on for two missing

YUPIA, 29 Jun: Even after two days of relentless search operation by the district disaster management team, state disaster response force and the national disaster response force along with local volunteers and Aapda Mitras, the two drowned persons from Hollongi river in Huto village could not be retrieved.

Later, owing to inclement weather, Papum Pare district disaster management officer Nima Tashi suspended the rescue and relief operations for Wednesday.

 Meanwhile, a sum of Rs. 3800/- including other relief items were provided to five affected families in Huto Panchayat by the district disaster management authorities led by Balijan ADC.  The authorities have also issued advisories to the affected people to shift to safer locations or designated relief camps.

      In Balijan, the body of 27-yr-old Lt. Momita Chakma, who was buried under the debris of landslide at Chakma Camp-01 under Balijan circle was retrieved, taking the death toll to 3 under Balijan circle in Papum Pare district. (DIPRO)
