SCERT director inspects schools in ICR

ITANAGAR, 4 Aug: SCERT Director Pige Ligu, along with Deputy SPD Neelam Tan, the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) DDSE and field functionaries of the education department carried out surprise inspection of schools in the ICR on Thursday.

The team visited the government higher secondary school in Kankarnallah, the government secondary school in Pachin Colony, and the government middle school in D Sector, Naharlagun.

“The purpose of the inspection was to check if the ICTs installation, vocational education lab, smart classroom, library, etc, are functioning properly, the teaching staffs perform their duties, the supplied tools and learning equipments, basic infrastructure such as toilet, drinking water, furniture and teacher quarters are available in the school,” the office of the Samagra Shiksha (ISSE) project director informed in a release.

Ligu interacted with the teachers and the students, and advised the school authorities to “form an alumni association in each school and register in the Vidyanjali portal to solve the minor problems in the school.”

“The problems of the school should not be left to the government alone. Parents, alumni, grassroots leaders and other likeminded person should come forward and shoulder the responsibility. Effort should be made to fill the gap through self-help basis by engaging parents, alumni and other likeminded people or through CSR,” the director added.
