Kaso seeks people’s cooperation for development

NAHARLAGUN, 18 Aug: Local MLA Techi Kaso on Thursday appealed to the people of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) to cooperate with the government agencies and contractors in executing works of public importance in various sectors and colonies of the ICR.

Speaking to media persons, Kaso said that “hundreds of arterial roads, including PMGSY roads, in large area of the capital could not last long due to land encroachment, legal or illegal land-cutting, and obstruction to free flow of river and nallah and damages to drainage system.”

The MLA, who visited various sectors and colonies, including the TRIHMS circular road in Naharlagun, said that “hundreds of colony and sector roads are being upgraded.”

“CC pavement works have to be done in a few areas and the works will be taken up soon,” he said.

“Major roads have been taken up and construction works are in progress,” the MLA added, and expressed hope that 60 to 70 percent of the works will be completed soon.

He also raised serious concern over the increase in drug abuse cases in the capital.

“Our children are our future and we should not allow our future to be in dark,” Kaso said, and appealed to one and all to “work together to minimise the cases of substance abuse.”

The MLA also directed PWD Executive Engineer Tana Nekam Tara to “take up proposal for construction of drainage system wherever necessary.”

Among others, IMC Corporator Kipa Takum, PWD AE Chukhu Tacho, former councillor Tarh Pacho, and social worker Bamang Loram accompanied the MLA.
