Recruit TIO and DTO

Editor,
On 27 September, the whole nation celebrated the World Tourism Day, but for Arunachal’s  unemployed tourism graduates, there was nothing to celebrate. On this auspicious day, every one talks about promotion of tourism in state. But nobody cares about the pain of the unemployed tourism youths.
Thousands of unemployed tourism students are there, but only one post of tourism information officer (TIO) in the month of June 2022 has been advertised by the APPSC, though the All Arunachal Tourism Student’s Union (AATSU) had submitted a representation to the tourism minister to increase the number of TIO posts.
In spite of the assurance given by the honourable minister, nothing has been done so far.
Every graduate, except tourism, has got and has many opportunities for government jobs. From time to time, various vacancies have been notified for them. But every time we are deprived of such opportunities.
For thousands of unemployed tourism youths, only 2-3 posts of TIO are advertised in every 4-5 years. Not a single post of district tourism officer (DTO) has been advertised in the last 20-21 years.
We are really concerned about our career and increasing age because of non-advertisement of DTO and TIO posts. We thought that our state was an important tourist destination, and that there would be good oppor-tunities in both private and government sectors, but now we are feeling that studying tourism was our greatest mistake. Neither are we getting oppor-tunities for competing for government jobs, nor do we have money for starting businesses.
We do not understand why the department does not pay heed to our appeals for creation and advertisement of DTO and TIO posts when half of the districts are without these officials.
Therefore, I appeal to the onourable minister and the tourism director to increase the number of TIO posts which was advertised by the APPSC vide Advertisement No PSC-R(B)/04/2022, dated 16 June, 2022. One single post for thousands of candidates is injustice and it is like rubbing salt in the wound of the unemployed youths.
