Tuki seeks details of UCC from Rijiju

ITANAGAR, 6 Jul: Former chief minister Nabam Tuki on Thursday urged Lok Sabha member and union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju to provide detailed information about the implications of the uniform civil code (UCC) in the northeastern states and the tribal community of the country.

Tuki, who is also the Sagalee MLA, said, “We all see a lot of discussion going on UCC on media platforms after government pushes for same in last few days.”

Tuki said that Rijiju, being a former union law minister, would be fully aware of its implications on the NE region and the tribal communities, as well as minority communities like Buddhists, Christians and others “who have been following customary local laws for centuries.”
