NAMSAI, 15 Jul: Ninety-five farmers and farmwomen, along with the Lekang EAC, ZPM, and ADO, besides the GPCs of Krisnapur and Waisali participated in a programme on opening a custom hiring centre (CHC) in Krisnapur village under the NICRA-TDC programme, organised by the Namsai KVK here on Saturday.
KVK Head (i/c) Dr Debasis Sasmal explained the importance of a CHC and uses of farm machinery and implements, while animal science expert Dr Binod Dutta Borah and plant protection scientist Dr Madhumita Sonowal Bora spoke on “formation of community for handling and maintenance of implements and fixed the price for hiring of implements to run CHC,” the KVK informed in a release.
Lower Lekang ZPM Bijay Ballav Neog advised the farmers and the farmwomen to “maintain account properly and include all the farmers of Krisnapur village.”
EAC NL Naam urged the farmers and the farmwomen to ensure proper utilisation of machinery, and stressed on the importance of millet cultivation in the district.
Farm implements were later handed over to the villagers.
