JOLLANG, 6 Dec: The agriculture department of Himalayan University (HU) here, in collaboration with NGO Unnati Foundation, conducted a month-long training programme on ‘soft skills development’ for its students from 31 October to 6 December.
The training programme, which had been inaugurated by HU agriculture department head Dr Raja Husain, was conducted by Unnati Foundation trainer Bompi Laye, who taught the students spoken English, life skills, and values.
“The students were taught how to improve their communication skills, personality development, perform their responsibility and gratitude nature in society in day-to-day life,” the college informed in a release.
Laye also highlighted the importance of “e-news learning, visual comprehension, word-based learning, etc,” the HU informed in a release, adding that “the students also learned about the power of positive attitude, listening skills, gender equality, sensitivity, time and money management.”
Laye taught the students how to be assertive, besides language etiquette, mannerisms, and public speaking. She also taught them how to face interviews.
During the closing function, Dr Husain suggested to the students to “implement the learned skills in future,” and thanked Unnati Foundation for conducting the programme.
Twenty-eight BSc agriculture students participated in the training programme.
