APU’s 5-day rural camp concludes

PASIGHAT, 5 Feb: A five-day rural camp organised in Yemsing village in Siang district by the social work department of the Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) here in East Siang district for its second semester social work (MSW) students concluded on Monday.

“The social work trainees applied participatory rural appraisal techniques such as transect walk, social mapping, resource mapping, seasonal calendar, etc, to identify the problems and the needs of the community,” the APU informed in a release, adding that cleanliness drives and awareness activities were also conducted during the camp.

“Focused group discussion was conducted with members of SHGs, youths, elderly and children and issue-based interventions executed. Various age-appropriate and inclusive games and sports were also organised,” it said.

“Furthermore, an open library was set up on the campus of the Govt Upper Primary School in Yemsing, and 133 books were donated by the department,” the university informed, adding that “two water filters, four garbage bins, and various eco-friendly dustbins were installed at designated spots in the village.”
