ZIRO, 28 Aug: Four people were arrested for drug peddling and suspected heroin seized from their possession by the police here on Tuesday.
A release from the Lower Subansiri SP informed that based on the receipt of credible information that one Tata Indica vehicle with suspected drugs (heroin) is heading towards Kamle district via Ziro, a police team led by SI J.Yomcha and comprising Insp R. Borang, SI K.Yigam, ASI’s P.Nobin, K.Leriak, L.Nyodu, L/Ct’s M.Khomrang and P.Yaja was constituted under the supervision of SDPO O.Lego and SP Ziro.
Accordingly, checking at Kardo nakka point was intensified to intercept the vehicle with consignment.
During checking, the suspected Tata Indica CS GLX Vehicle was intercepted by the team and search was conducted in presence of EAC T.Yangchen and independent witnesses.
Upon search one plastic vial and one plastic pouch concealed in a soap case containing suspected heroin, weighing 13.3gms was seized from the possession of the four persons namely, Rotom Tani, Nido Kardak, Nido Deba and Yalum Pegmir.
Later, a case was registered under appropriate sections of NDPS Act and endorsed to SI. K.Tacha for investigation. Further investigation is underway, informed the SP in the release.
