DNGC holds extramural lecture

ITANAGAR, 18 Oct: Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) here organised an extramural lecture on the ‘Role and functions of diplomats’ in the conference hall of the college on 16 October.

The extramural lecture was delivered by External Affairs Ministry Additional Secretary (Central Europe) Arun Kumar Sahu, who elaborated the fast-changing trends in the world impacted by advancement in information and communication technology.

“We have artificial intelligence, robot technology, nano technology,” he said, and exhorted the students to “use the internet and social media judiciously, as the younger generation is often found wasting much time on social media, even though it is unproductive.”

He urged the students to focus on the value of time, education, skill and knowledge.

The resource person also answered queries raised by the students, and said that “diplomats have multi-dimensional roles and functions, such as economic, social, scientific, indigenous, cultural, diplomatic, politicalm, etc.”

RGU Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof SK Nayak, RGU Political Science HoD Prof Nabam Naka Hina, and DNGC Principal Dr MQ Khan also spoke.

A large number of students, including NSS volunteers and faculty members attended the programme, which was coordinated by DNGC Political Science Assistant Professor Bar Yakar.
