NAMSAI, 22 Jan: The Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) hosted a two-day national workshop on Right to Education here on 20 and 21 January.
Sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission, the workshop brought together educators, scholars and policy-makers from across the nation.
In his inaugural address, AUS vice-chancellor prof. D.S Hernwal delivered an insightful speech on the Right to Education (RTE). Prof. Hernwal elaborated on the origins, practical implementation and future perspectives of the RTE, underscoring the pivotal role of teachers in this endeavor.
DHSK Law College (Dibrugarh) principal Dr. Prasenjit Borkakoti, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Roing principal A. Athikho, and Dr. P.C Swain, an associate professor at IGGC, Tezu, deliberated on various aspects of the RTE, its history, challenges and the importance of compliance to strengthen the school ecosystem.
Dr. Aparajita Dutta from Assam’s Dibrugarh University spoke on the impact assessment of the RTE, while Vivekananda Kendra College of Teacher Education principal Aditya Prakash focused on empowering teachers for inclusive education under the RTE.
The valedictory session was attended by Namsai Zilla Parishad chairperson Nang Urmila Mancheykhun and AUS chairman Dr. Ashwani Lochan.
Dr. Lochan highlighted the role of the Indian government and WEM in ensuring educational opportunities for all.
The workshop saw an enthusiastic participation of over 200 attendees.
