Khonsa GH gets dialysis unit

KHONSA, 6 Mar: Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran inaugurated a dialysis unit at the general hospital (GH) here in the district on Thursday.

Aran in his inaugural address said that the dialysis facility would greatly benefit poor and needy patients suffering from kidney ailments.

“Patients no longer need to travel to Assam or the TRIHMS in Itanagar for dialysis purpose,” the DC said, and added that the dialysis unit would not only cater to patients from Tirap but would also serve those from neighbouring Longding and Changlang districts.

The DC commended the hospital management for “making the initiative a reality.”

District Medical Officer Dr N Lowang informed that the hospital now has a fully equipped three-bedded dialysis unit with an attached washroom.

“Additionally, a pay cabin is available at a nominal rate of Rs 500 per night for patients from far-off places who require accommodation,” Dr Lowang said.

General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr T Basar said that that a 26 year old from Chasa village became the first patient to undergo dialysis at the newly established unit, under the supervision of dialysis technician Ratim Gogoi.

He said uninterrupted power and water supply is crucial for the smooth functioning of the dialysis unit.

Dialysis services at the general hospital are provided free of cost.

The dialysis unit was installed under the aegis of Kolkata (WB)-based Eskag Sanjeevani Pvt Ltd. Eskag Sanjeevani is providing the facility in a public-private partnership mode with the National Health Mission and the state government across Arunachal Pradesh 15 other states of the country. (DIPRO)
