Healthcare crisis in Arunachal

Editor,

I wish to highlight a serious issue affecting public healthcare in Arunachal Pradesh. A few days ago, a critically ill child was admitted to a government hospital, but shockingly, no doctor was available. Reports suggest many government doctors were busy in their private clinics, leaving government hospitals understaffed even during emergencies.

To make matters worse, the hospital’s ambulance services were not operational or ready for use, putting the patient’s life at even greater risk. Such negligence is unacceptable and raises serious questions about the commitment and accountability of our public health institutions.

I appeal to the chief minister, the state medical authority, and the hospital administrators to urgently address this crisis. Concrete steps must be taken to ensure that doctors remain present during duty hours, and that ambulance services are always functional and ready for emergencies.

The public depends on government hospitals, especially the poor who cannot afford private care. Immediate action is needed before more innocent lives are put in danger due to neglect and system failures.
