Fisheries training prog conducted

TEZU, 24 Jun: More than 150 participants, including farmers from Lohit, Anjaw, Lower Dibang Valley and Namsai districts, participated in a fisheries training programme conducted here in Lohit district on Thursday by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), in collaboration with Gurugram-based Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC).

The event was organized in coordination with the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Cooperation, Lohit district.

Lohit DC KN Damo, who attended the programme, encouraged farmers and cooperative societies to take full advantage of the schemes and training being provided under the NCDC.

District Cooperative Union chairman Sohail Kri in his address emphasized the importance of strengthening local cooperatives for sustainable development.

The training aimed to build capacity and enhance the knowledge of progressive fish farmers, cooperative members, and local stakeholders in modern fishery practices, sustainable aquaculture, and the role of cooperatives in fisheries development.

Resource persons from LINAC and the NCDC shared insights into financial interventions available under the NCDC, technical know-how, and government support schemes for fisheries and cooperative development.

Officials from the District Fisheries Department and the Department of Cooperation were present to guide the participants and encourage them to form or strengthen fishery cooperatives for enhanced productivity and income generation. (DIPRO)
