Closed DCPU office in Pangin

Editor,

Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to bring to the attention of the authorities concerned to the issue of the non-opening of the district child protection unit (DCPU) office in Pangin in Siang district.

This office always remains in the limelight for bad reasons. There were allegations of corrupt practices in the recruitment of data analyst and backdoor recruitment of data entry operator and counsellor vacancies, where all recruited candidates are biological siblings of the probation officer.

We witnessed hue and cry regarding the wrongful recruitment but there is no report of action taken against them for their illegal practices by the authorities concerned till date.

This office is supposed to remain operational and facilitate the public, but it is very agonizing to see that the office remains closed every time and every day.

The public of Siang district were very excited when this office was established in 2019 in Pangin, only to find that its staff is untraceable and the office has yet to open its door to the public.

The closure of this office has caused significant inconvenience to the residents of Siang district, who have to travel long distances to access the services that should be readily available in their locality. This has resulted in undue hardship and financial burden on the people, particularly the elderly, women and children.

I request the authorities concerned to look into this matter urgently and take necessary steps to ensure that the office always remains open for the public. The residents of Siang district are eagerly looking forward to the office remaining open and providing them with the necessary services.

Dukmay Tasing,

Pangin, Siang district
