Editor,
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has always been a well-wisher of state government employees. Whenever we placed our genuine demands before him, he took care of our interests. That’s why he is known as a people-friendly chief minister.
Recently, while inaugurating the new building of the APPSC, he informed us that various departments are submitting their vacancies to the commission for advertisement and recruitment.
In this regard, we would like to draw the attention of the head of the government towards the untold pain and emotions of the state government employees.
Whenever the final results of the APPSCCE are declared, tears automatically roll down from our eyes. Once we also dreamed of becoming officers. In order to secure our families’ live and also due to other reasons, we had to join in lower ranked jobs.
After spending years in service and getting married and having kids, it is not possible to compete with fresh minds. Competing with Gen Z has become more difficult, especially for those who are posted in outposts/interior areas, where many facilities and amenities are absent.
It is not that we are not competent and fit to work in higher level of jobs. With vast experience, if given a chance, we can deliver excellent performance. There is also a provision where in-service employees can get absorbed in higher posts, ie, common limited departmental exam. In other states, such exams are conducted from time to time to boost the morale of government employees.
We are not asking for 20-30 posts; just a few Group A and B posts are enough for us.
Since the Department of Personnel and Training is with the chief minister, we state government employees with folded hands appeal to the chief minister to think over our appeal and give us one last chance to compete among ourselves to serve in higher posts.
