Editor,

I wish to express deep concern and disappointment over the recently declared result of the programmer (contractual) interview conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) on 3 October, 2025, vide Advertisement No 46/2025, dated 29 July, 2025.

As a senior professional from the computer science & engineering/information technology domain – though not an applicant in this interview – I feel compelled to raise questions over the apparent lack of transparency, fairness, and inclusivity in the recruitment process.

The result, now officially published by the APSSB, appears to reflect favouritism and bias, overshadowing deserving local candidates who possess equal or higher merit and relevant qualifications.

This incident is, unfortunately, not an isolated one. In recent months, several recruitment outcomes in Arunachal Pradesh have raised similar concerns among educated youths and professionals. The growing perception of nepotism and pre-decided selections undermines the very purpose of the APSSB, which was established to ensure a merit-based, corruption-free recruitment system.

Many qualified local technologists, engineers, and computer science graduates continue to remain unemployed or underemployed despite their competence. When appointments for technical positions – especially in fields like programming, networking, or system administration – appear influenced by connections rather than capability, it erodes public trust and demoralizes the state’s skilled youths.

I sincerely urge the authorities to review the selection process, ensure transparency in the evaluation criteria, and make interview proceedings more accountable. Independent observers or external subject experts may also be involved to ensure impartiality.

If we truly wish to see Arunachal Pradesh progress digitally and technologically, merit must be respected above all else. Our local talents deserve fair opportunity, not favouritism.
