Editor,

I wish to draw the attention of the authorities and the general public to the alarming and deplorable condition of the Pasighat-Remi road (approximately 20 km). According to available sources, a substantial amount of Rs 30 crore was sanctioned by the government for the construction and improvement of this road. However, the ground reality presents a stark contrast to the claims made on paper.

The quality of work executed by the contractors and the PWD is highly unsatisfactory and fails to meet the prescribed DPR norms. This road is not merely a stretch of asphalt; it is a vital lifeline for the people of Bosing Banggo, Upper Legong Banggo, and Ramle Banggo, who depend on it daily for medical emergencies, education, official duties, business activities, and other essential needs.

Unfortunately, the road has become a glaring example of rampant corruption and administrative apathy. The suffering of the common people intensifies during the monsoon season, when the road becomes almost impassable, endangering lives and livelihoods alike. Despite repeated assurances from various political leaders, no tangible improvement has been witnessed on the ground. Promises remain hollow, while reality remains unchanged.

It is deeply distressing to observe that public funds – hard-earned taxpayers’ money – are being misused, while contractors and certain officials allegedly enrich themselves at the cost of public welfare. This situation amounts to gross injustice to the people who have long endured hardship in silence.

I earnestly appeal to the chief minister, the authorities concerned, and conscientious citizens to take serious note of this issue and raise their voices against such corruption. Immediate intervention, accountability, and corrective action are the need of the hour to restore public trust and ensure that development reaches those for whom it is intended.
