DAPORIJO, 16 Jan: An awareness workshop-cum-mobilisation drive on the Prime Minister’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) for Upper Subansiri district was organised by the Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department (SDED), in collaboration with the District Skill Committee, here in Upper Subansiri district on Friday.

Attending the workshop, SDED Deputy Director Gyati Kacho urged the trainees of ITI Tabarijo and the unemployed youths to avail of the benefits of the NAPS and the State Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (SAPS) to enhance their skills to be employable.

“In the face of less industries and employment opportunities within the state, our unemployed youths should venture outside the state by joining apprenticeship and on-the-job trainings to be employable,” he said.

Kacho also explained the benefits of NAPS and SAPS, while DSDE consultants Tonuruchi Olimman and Angshu Yadav made presentations on the Chief Minister’s Soft Loan Scheme (CMSLS) and the Foreign Language Training Programme and Overseas Employment’ (FLTP).

Under the NAPS, apprentices will be provided a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 per month. APST apprentices travelling outside the state will be provided additional support of Rs 1,500 per month. Apprentices will also be paid stipends by the companies/employers ranging from Rs 6,800 to Rs 12,300 per month, depending upon their educational qualifications. Under the SAPS, trainees will be paid Rs 11,625 per month and one-time travel allowance of Rs 5,000. A trainee will thus be receiving Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per month during their apprenticeship training.

Under the CMSLS, ITI passed candidates will be provided loans of up to Rs 3 lakh in two tranches, with additional incentive of Rs 15,000 for purchase of tools and equipment. Of the loan amount, 25% of each loan tranche amount will be subsidised to beneficiaries who complete the repayment of loan tranches, and 7% interest subsidy will also be provided to them.

Under the Foreign Language Training Programme and Overseas Employment, 70% of the training fees,including the training fee, medical test fee, exam fee, visa fee, boarding and lodging of candidates will be borne by the state government, and the government will also help in providing loans to the remaining 30%.

Representatives of empanelled third-party aggregators -Navbir Singh from 2 Coms Pvt Ltd and Shantanu Chaudhary from Eduvantage Pvt Ltd – highlighted the job roles, vacancies and training locations available to the aspiring trainees.

Along with the trainees of ITI Tabarijo, several unemployed youths from the district attended the workshop.

 Stalls were also set up at the venue, where on-the-spot counseling and registration were provided to aspiring trainees.
