RAGA, Oct 27: The compensation money for construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) in Kamle district has been sanctioned, said Highway EE Gyati Anda, and requested the public to cooperate with the concessionaire in completing the road construction work in the stipulated time of 36 months.
Addressing a public meeting chaired here by Kamle DC Hengo Basar regarding Packages 3-5 of the TAH, Anda informed that agreements have already been signed by the concessionaires and the authority concerned but the construction work could not be started due to compensation issues.
“Now the compensation money has been sanctioned,” he said and requested the public to extend wholehearted cooperation.
He advocated carrying out a joint survey for utility shifting, “so as to hand over encumbrance-free land to the concessionaire.”
Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe implored the public not to put impediments in the highway construction activities. He directed the DC to immediately constitute a committee to ensure “fair and just dispersal of compensation to the genuine beneficiaries,” and to “collect all the documents in connection with land compensation and the TAH from the Lower Subansiri DC.”
The MLA asked the DC to immediately allow the concessionaire to start formation-cutting in the forest area, as well as those areas which are encumbrance-free.
He also instructed the DC to initiate strict action against extortionists.
Several speakers, including Dr Kapu Sopin, Tap Tapuk, Guchi Tamar, Puri Kan Boa, Maga Apo, Docha Erin, Dinesh Maga, Lampoop Laa and Milli Tanya offered suggestions with regard to early payment of compensation and start of TAH construction.
They opined that compensation should be released immediately and only genuine beneficiaries should receive fair compensation.
“Purported beneficiaries from outside the district without structures should not receive compensation,” they said.
Seeking full cooperation of the public for speedy completion of the TAH, they said that the construction activity for the TAH may be allowed to start in the forestland stretch of the TAH and proper arrangements should be made by the departments concerned before utility shifting to avoid public resentment, according to an official release.
