ITANAGAR, 17 Mar: Governor BD Mishra on Wednesday made an on-the-spot inspection of the under construction airport at Hollongi to gather first-hand information about the progress of the dream project.
Mishra, accompanied by senior officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the district administration, inspected the runway, boundary wall, power substation site and the connecting road of the airport. He also inspected the Kokila River diversion site and the area around the airport.
The governor advised the officials to optimally increase the number of machines, plants and manpower to meet the deadline. He said that increase in the work input must match with time lost in the project work due to Covid-19 pandemic and on the coming monsoon.
Mishra suggested the officials for an alternative plan using prefabricated materials in case permanent structures are to take more time for completion. He advised the officials to explore innovative ways to ensure that the project is commissioned in time for the benefit of the people of the state.
The governor also emphasized the need for expediting the tender process for award of pending works of the projects.
Earlier, the governor was briefed on the progress made on the Hollongi Green Field Airport in the last 15 days by state’s Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik, AAI General Manager Dilip M Sajnani and senior officers of the PW, Power and PHE departments.
The governor had earlier visited the site on 1 March. (Raj Bhavan)
