CHIMPU, Jan 19: Twenty-five medal-winning Taekwondo players and coaches of the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) were felicitated by Sports Director Tadar Appa, SLSA Principal Tabia Chobin and Sports Officer OB Meitei here on Friday.
The Taekwondo players had participated in the 3rd Cadet Poomsae and Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship held in Odisha in July 2017; the 34th Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship in Karnataka in December 2017; and the 4th North East Taekwondo Championship at Karimganj, Assam, in January this year.
They returned with 13 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals.
Appa and Chobin congratulated the medal winners and their coaches for their outstanding achievement in this academic session, and for bringing laurels to the academy.
SLSA Taekwondo coaches Deepak Gurung and Suraj Ali expressed happiness over winning so many medals in the academic session, and said they hoped to bring more medals in the coming years.
