SSA teachers decline 22% salary hike

ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The Central Executive Committee All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (CEC-AASSATA) on Wednesday wrote to the office of the Chief Secretary and said that the SSA teachers of the state vehemently decline to accept the state government’s decision to hike the salary status to a meagre 22 per cent increment from the existing rate.
In its representation, the CEC-AASSATA called for reconsidering the modification of the 22 per cent salary enhancement of SSA teachers to 83.60 per cent as drafted in the cabinet note, and batch wise regularisation of SSA teachers at one DPC.
Saying that the recommended enhancement rate, expected to come into effect from 1 April, 2018, is unacceptable to them as the same does not fit their hopes and dignity, the association also expressed surprise that the batch wise regularisation of SSA teachers at one DPC “was put in the agenda of discussion or consideration”.
The association said that if their demand for 83.60 per cent hike is not considered at the earliest by the department concerned, it would resume its democratic movement in the protest against the state government’s indifference for the SSA fraternity.
