ITANAGAR, 18 Jan: Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu discussed ongoing infrastructure projects in the border areas of the state during a meeting at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
Stating that the central government is according high priority to developing the border areas, Mishra said that the villages in the border areas must be economically vibrant and should have good roads, schools, medical facilities and reliable communication networks.
He emphasized on “timely implementation and quality assurance of the projects in the border areas,” and said that roads, bridges, tunnels and tracks taken up in the border areas “must be of the highest standard to sustain the economic development of the local people and the security of the borders.”
The governor advised the security agencies to explore the best technical and scientific methods of road construction. He also stressed on proper coordination with the district authorities while taking up road projects.
Earlier, 4 Corps General Officer Commanding Lt Gen Ravin Khosla briefed the governor and the chief minister on the developmental projects being undertaken by the Indian Army. He assured of “the best security of the Indian territory on the borders and work excellence in all the defence projects in Arunachal Pradesh.”
Among others, ITBP NE Frontier HQ Inspector General Shyam Mehrotra, senior DIGs of the ITBP SP Singh and Deepak Sandhuja, and Planning Commissioner Prashant Lokhande were present at the meeting. (Raj Bhavan)
