ITANAGAR, Feb 2: Governor Dr BD Mishra on Friday reiterated his opinion that public toilets should be installed in public places, and asked the Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) to take up such projects at the earliest.
Dr Mishra said this while participating in a cleanliness drive, along with officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan, at Bank Tinali. Organised by the IMC, the drive was part of the governor’s ‘Hamara elan, swachhta aur nari utthan’ initiative.
The governor led the cleaning of the UD department’s parking lot, which was badly littered with liquor bottles, garbage and seepage water. He asked the Capital Complex SP to display a placard for keeping the place clean, and to conduct regular patrolling of the area and advise people against littering it.
Dr Mishra also advised the shopkeepers and residents of the area to keep their surroundings clean.
The governor was impressed by the effort of the C-1 Sector Women SHG in keeping Tadar Tang Marg clean, and advised them to keep its shadow areas clean, as well.
Chief Municipal Councillor Kipa Kaku, Deputy Chief Municipal Councillor Tarh Nachung, Ward Councillor Tadik Tagru, members of the women SHG, ITBP personnel, shopkeepers and volunteers also participated in the cleanliness drive. (PRO to Governor)
