TAWANG, 13 May: Developmental activities under the 14th and the 15th Finance Commission grants in the Tawang zilla parishad were discussed during a meeting chaired by Tawang ZPC Leki Gombu and DC KN Damo here on Friday.
The DC in his address stressed on cluster farming and cleanliness, and requested everyone to “keep mountains clean and green.” He advised Zilla Parishad Member Secretary Lobsang Tsering, DPDO Tenzin Jambey, ZPMs, member secretaries of gram panchayats, and government officers to ensure “coordination and cooperation among departments for convergence of projects to achieve targets under 14 and 15 Finance Commission grants.”
“The projects completed should not be for formality’s sake,” he said, and asked the implementing agencies to maintain quality of work. “The benefits of welfare schemes and developmental activities should reach the last man on the line,” he said.
The ZPC said that the villagers need to be educated about availing bank loans.
He requested the ZPMs and the GPMs to “visit hospitals, health centres and schools to take firsthand information to improve services for common public.”
Generating awareness against the drug menace should be taken up on priority, he said, and also called for banning students from bringing mobile phones to schools.
Earlier, the member secretaries and officials of the departments concerned made presentations on the developmental activities being taken up in Tawang.
The ZPMs of Kyidphel, Jemeithang-Duitongkhar and Mogto also spoke. (DIPRO)
