PASIGHAT, 24 May: Four drug peddlers, including two women, were arrested from different locations in East Siang district as a follow-up to an NDPS case that had been registered on 20 May.
Pasighat DSP Chera Saban, Pasighat PS OC Inspector Otu Gao, SIs Aditya Chandra and K Pertin, and a team of police personnel along with members of NGO WASE conducted a series of raids in the district late Monday night.
Interrogation revealed that one of the accused, identified as Valentina, used drug addicts as courier boys to procure drugs directly from Dimapur (Nagaland) through partial payments in cash and through bank account, the police said.
She had a team of boys and girls who helped her in peddling drugs in East Siang and adjoining districts.
A total of 32.92 grams of suspected brown sugar, along with Rs 1,00,500 earned from sales proceeds, were seized during the raids.
