NAMSAI, 17 Jun: The science & technology faculty of the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) here on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Majuli (Assam)-based Jengraimukh College “to enhance the academic uplift in the tribal region of Assam.”
The MoU was signed by AUS Science & Technology Director Dr Rani Jha and Jengraimukh College Assistant Professor Dr Biplab Kumar Das.
“The AUS is a multi-faculty educational and skills university under the sponsorship and management of the World Education Mission (WEM).
The AUS, with support of the WEM, has tremendously helped in uplifting and empowering people, especially the marginalised sections, including the ST community and dropouts, of Namsai and nearby districts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, through inclusive education,” the AUS stated in a release.
“Jengraimukh College, located in the northern part of Majuli, is one of the epicentres of tribal India, comprising mainly Mising and Deori tribes,” it said, adding that the college has joined hands with the AUS as part of its vision to become an institution of higher education.
“The MoU will pave the way for academic collaboration for promoting excellence in common areas of interest, imparting knowledge and skills required to operate in the area of academic programmes, research and training,” Dr Jha said, adding that this partnership between the two institutes “would go a long way in leveraging opportunities arising out of cross-institutional relevance.”
The MoU will broadly cover activities such as conducting joint workshops and seminars, continuing education and similar academic programmes for faculty members, research scholars and students of both the organisations on themes of topical and professional interests, it said.
“The MoU would also facilitate exchange of faculty members and journals, regular exchange of course materials, case studies, research publications and other academic and research projects,” said Dr Jha.
Dr Das and AUS president Dr Ashwani Lochan also spoke.
