ITANAGAR, 24 Jun: In a landmark step towards spreading the wings of the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY), a memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Society (CMAAS) and the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to provide medical facilities to the beneficiaries of the CMAAY at the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai and the ACTREC in Kharghar.
With the signing of the agreement, the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai will be empanelled under the CMAAY and the beneficiaries will be able to avail the benefits under the CMAAY.
The move is expected to massively benefit the people of Arunachal, who often go to the TMH, especially for treatment of cancer. As per the agreement, admission of patients will be done only upon production of a proper authorisation letter, to be issued by the authorised signatories of the CMAAS, supported by an enrollment/medical card/identity card as proof of identity for the treatment of cancer.
TMC director Dr RA Badwe and CMAAY CEO Dr Nabam Peter signed the agreement.
The other major hospitals covered under the CMAAY include the CMC in Vellore and the NEIGRIHMS in Shillong. In 2020, the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, had also been empanelled under the CMAAY, providing much-needed relief to the people.
Besides empanelling major hospitals in the state, like the TRIHMS, the Bakin Pertin General Hospital and district hospitals, the CMAAY covers several private hospitals too.
The CMAAY has been launched to provide financial assistance for quality medical care up to Rs 5 lakhs per year, per family to the beneficiaries. There will be certain conditions for beneficiaries to avail the benefits at the TMC.
“The beneficiaries of the CMAAY will go to these hospitals with a referral letter or arrange for a referral letter with help of an arogyamitra stationed at the TMC by the CMAAS. This referral letter will mention the amount available for the patient under the scheme. The reference letter will mention the balance sum assured and the eligible date up to which assured balance sum can be used,” informed Dr Peter.
The amount/balance sum assured will be blocked from the beneficiary’s family till the submission of bills by the TMC.
The TMC has conveyed that the medications will be restricted to generic categories to give maximum benefit to the beneficiaries. All grievances related to CMAAY patients and scheme will be handled by the CMAAY Arunachal Pradesh. Patients can take treatment until the BSA is exhausted, or the eligible date has expired, whichever comes first.
“In case the BSA is exhausted, the patient will be treated as ‘cash patient’ till the BSA is renewed in the category of choice of patient,” added Dr Peter.
