NAHARLAGUN, Feb 14: Wife of Arunachal Pradesh Governor, Neelam Misra visited the craft centre of the department of Textile and Handicrafts in the Industrial Estate here on Wednesday. Misra went around various sections of the craft centre, including the computer-aided design centre, which is first of its kind in the industrial estate.
Interacting with the officials and artisans of the department, she emphasized that production of indigenous handlooms and handicrafts must be promoted amongst the youth.
She said that the age old traditional handloom and handicraft traditions, like weaving, thanka painting, wooden mask making and exotic wood carving are the pride and identity of our indigenous communities and it must be promoted and preserved.
Further, she advised the department officials to open outlets in metros and other places for authentic traditional products of Arunachal Pradesh.
