AALO, 13 Aug: Entrepreneurs of West Siang district participated in an exporters’ conclave organised by the trade & commerce department here on Saturday, under the guidance of ADC (i/c) Henkir Lollen.
Deputy Commissioner Penga Tato, who also attended the conclave, encouraged the entrepreneurs to “sell their products online also and make available to local market first.”
Officials of the horticulture and the agriculture departments enumerated the government schemes for farmers.
Progressive farmer Yayum Gangkak informed about the problems she faced during the initial stage of starting her tea estate, Siru Tea.
A representative of the Boken Organic Tea estate shared the procedure of making organic tea and highlighted the benefits of organic tea.
An exporters’ conclave was organised also in Pakke-Kessang HQ Lemmi.
It featured a panel discussion among the members of the District Export Promotion Committee and technical experts from various departments.
District Agriculture Officer Opang Moyong informed the people about the crops that would grow best in the climatic conditions of the district.
DC Tayek Pado urged the people to “go for ‘vocal for local’ and make the slogan of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ a reality in true sense.”
Besides progressive farmers, members of SHGs and government officials attended the programme. (With DIPRO input)
