KAMKI, 13 Sep: Home Minister Bamang Felix interacted with the students and faculty members of the Donyi-Polo Government College (DPGC) here in West Siang district on Tuesday.
During the interaction, the minister appealed to the students and the faculty members of the college to “make the DPGC as mini-Arunachal,” and urged the people of the state to “reinstate the lost glory of Arunachal Pradesh as an island of peace.”
“The making of pan-Arunachal depends on clan-based organisations and the government,” Felix said, and discouraged “feelings of communalism, clanism and regionalism.”
Stating that the government is doing its best for the overall development of the state, he discouraged formation of unions and associations. He also discouraged drug abuse among the youths.
The home minister assured to address the memorandum submitted by DPGC Principal Dr Gindu Borang.
MLA Nyamar Karbak, who is a patron of the college, expressed appreciation for the Nabam Tuki government and the present Pema Khandu government for naming the TRIHMS and the Jarbom Gamlin Law College in Jote, saying it “shows the love and affection for each other.”
Reigning Miss Arunachal Nabam Yate encouraged the students to “have fixed goals to become successful men and women.”
NGO Mother’s Vision’s managing director Kennedy Bagra spoke on the ill effects of drug abuse.
On his way back to Itanagar, Felix visited Mother’s Vision’s rehabilitation centre. He commended ZPM and founder member of the NGO, Jumde Yomgam Gamlin and Bagra for serving the society, and assured to help the NGO in the days to come.
Besides Karbak, West Siang DC Penga Tato and SP Abimanyu Paswal accompanied the minister. (DIPRO)
