ITANAGAR, 23 Sep: The National Movement for Old Pension Scheme’s (NMOPS) Arunachal Pradesh unit has appealed to the Government of India to roll back the New Pension Scheme (NPS)/Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) for the welfare of the government employees of the country.
In a representation addressed to the prime minister through the chief secretary on Monday, the federal wing of the NMOPS stated, “The contractual contingency work-charged employees spend more than 15 to 20 years to get regularized. As such it is obvious their deposits in Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) are minimum, and the pension drawl ability under PFRDA does not even match the expenses of two meals a day. Such a pitiable condition of retired employees is seen across the country. The directly absorbed regular employees are also not free from this NPS system as this does not provide social and economic security to the retiring employees. Even the deposits into PFRDA are not made transparent, so as to imbibe faith upon the system. Reformations after reformations are being brought out through various notifications but it has failed to free our pension system from the clutches of the PFRDA and share market.”
