PASIGHAT, 30 Apr: The 230 Medium Regiment of the Indian Army conducted an informative and interactive session on Operation Sindoor at the Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) here in East Siang district on Thursday.
The session was attended by faculty members, students, and administrative staff of the university.
230 Medium Regiment Commanding Officer Colonel Partha Sarathi Batabyal in his keynote speech provided a clear and authoritative account of Operation Sindoor – India’s precision counter-terrorism strike of May 2025, launched in response to a barbaric terrorist attack on innocent civilians.
He spoke about the strength and professionalism of the Indian Army, and emphasised the importance of relying on verified, official information in an era of widespread misinformation.
Colonel Batabyal highlighted India’s growing stature on the international stage, noting that the operation was executed with restraint, precision, and strategic clarity, and is widely acknowledged across the world as a decisive yet measured response to cross-border terrorism.
He underscored the remarkable tri-service synergy demonstrated during the operation, with the Army, Air Force, and Navy working in full coordination, and spoke about India’s indigenous defence capabilities as a testament to the nation’s commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.
He also extended a call to the students of the APU, encouraging them to join the Indian Army and serve the nation with honour and pride. He emphasised that the youths of the Northeast, with their resilience, courage, and deep connection to the land, have a significant role to play in strengthening India’s defence forces, and urged students to explore the various opportunities available to join the Indian Army and contribute to the security and progress of the nation.
The Indian Army also screened a short documentary on Operation Sindoor, offering the participants a visual account of the operation’s objectives, execution, and outcomes.
APU Registrar Narmi Darang appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian Army in bringing the programme to the university campus. He observed that universities in the Northeast have a vital role in nurturing informed and nationally conscious citizens, and that engagements of this nature strengthen the enduring bond between academic institutions and the armed forces.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment that saw enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members.
