YUPIA, May 28: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda on Monday urged the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to spread awareness about the scheme, and directed the district’s nodal officers to make efforts to ensure better coverage under the scheme.
The DC was addressing the beneficiaries and HoDs in his office here, following a video-conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which the PM interacted with the women beneficiaries of the PMUY.
The PMUY aims at reducing the use of polluting fuels by providing free LPG connection to poor households, and improving health, economic safety, and empowerment of women.
Altogether 572 beneficiaries have been provided with free LPG connection under the PMUY (rural) in the district.
Earlier, the newly-appointed DC convened a coordination meeting with administrative officers and HoDs, and urged them to work with team spirit.
He also asked the HoDs to come up with presentations on their activities and the profiles of their departments. (DIPRO)
