ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Governor BD Mishra has urged the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) officers to work with resolve and dedication to bring development to every corner of the state.
Interacting with APCS entry grade (lateral) officers of the 2017 batch at Raj Bhavan here on Friday, Mishra advised them to work with the spirit of selflessness to ensure that the challenges facing the last man on the last rung of the society in education, development and health are addressed and mitigated.
“The administrative officers are the most important link in governance. They should provide good governance for the wellbeing and development of the people of the state,” the governor said.
He emphasized that the officers must develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.
The governor also stressed on the officers to remove corruption and ensure that every paisa spent under their power is accounted for.
“They must meet every visitor and no visitor to their office should return unattended,’ he added.
Cautioning the officers that there will be many challenges, interferences, pressures, threats and inducements to detract them from carrying out their official duties, he advised them to develop a reputation of being transparent and accountable and work with a “no personal gain bottom line.”
He also highlighted the executive powers of the state vested in the governor, and the governor’s duties and obligations. He said that, as he has made and subscribed the Oath of Governor, he would devote himself to the service and wellbeing of the people of the state and go full-length to preserve, protect and defend the constitution and the law.
He also referred to Article 371 (H), which states that the governor of Arunachal Pradesh has a special responsibility towards ensuring law and order in the state.
Among others, ATI Assistant Director Bamin Tarang was present during the interaction.
The APCS officers are undergoing induction training-cum-refresher course at the Administrative Training Institute, Naharlagun. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
