ZIRO, Aug 16: Local MLA Tage Taki said the reduction of the right of way (RoW) from 12 m to 7 m in the 18 km built-up areas of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) project in Lower Subansiri district was “the last resort” to save the highway from being cancelled by the ministry of road, transport and highways (MoRTH).
The MLA gave the clarification regarding the TAH compensation scam while addressing people at Dani Kunya Government Higher Secondary School here on the occasion of the Independence Day.
Taki said the imbroglio concerning the portion of the highway running along the advanced landing ground has now been addressed “as the compensation amount for the portion has been sanctioned by the MoRTH and the state government has decided that the road will be along the existing alignment only.
“The compensation amount being currently disbursed is based on the fourth estimate of Rs 289 crore, though the final sanctioned amount is Rs 188 crore. Hence, the amount is being paid after proportionate reduction. However, the final amount is likely to be decided as per the report of the re-verification committee constituted by the government,” he said.
He urged the people to work as a team and not as opponents trying to pull each other down. (DIPRO)
