BORUM, Sep 22: Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju took part in a ‘shramdaan’ programme at the railway station here on Saturday as part of the ‘Swachchta Hi Seva’ campaign.
He was accompanied by Environment & Forests Minister Nabam Rebia and MLA Techi Kaso.
“Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most beautiful states of the country and we need to make concerted efforts to keep it clean and healthy, so that people from outside can enjoy the natural beauty of our state,” Rijiju said.
He called for carrying out more awareness campaigns to motivate the people, especially the young, and to help them realize that “cleanliness is not just a part of the government’s responsibilities.”
He said the Clean India campaign has brought “revolutionary changes in railway stations across the country, which will have a huge effect on cleanliness of the country as well,” and asked the railway authorities to maintain the Naharlagun railway station as one of the cleanest railway stations in the country.
Later, the MoS flagged off an ambulance provided by the ONGC under its CSR project for Papum Pare district.
Rebia in his address called upon the people to “carry forward the message of Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan (SBM) to ensure a clean and healthy environment.”
PHE&WS Chief Engineer Toko Jyoti, SBM (Gramin) Mission Director Sentum Yomcha, and Papum Pare DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu also spoke. (DIPRO)
