KOLORIANG, Sep 28: The Kurung Kumey district branch of the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) recently organised a series of legal sensitization programmes at different schools here, in collaboration with the child welfare committee (CWC) and staff of the ICDS.
The programmes, which were organised at the government middle school, the KGBV and the girls’ residential school here, and the government upper primary school in Nikja, was aimed at creating self-awareness and sensitizing school going children to their rights and safety, and social security in the fast-changing society.
Discussions were held on topics like the POCSO Act, child labour, drug abuse, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Dulari Kanya scheme, early and forcible marriage, etc.
APWWS district president Bengia Kakum spoke about child marriage and its demerits, while CWC member Bengia Reekam highlighted child welfare-related issues.
Chera Kani and Yumlam Kaku also spoke.
