Firm denies allegation of substandard work

ITANAGAR, Sep 28: Responding to the allegation of the Tagin Cultural Society that maintenance work on the Ziro-Tai stretch of the Trans-Arunachal Highway was being carried out by the contractors in an unscientific manner without adhering to any engineering specifications, one of the construction agencies, M/s Godak Bida, said “the work is being executed without negligence by adhering to BOQ and as per specification given by the engineers.”
In a clarification letter addressed to the PWD commissioner, the construction agency said on Friday that the contract work was awarded to two different contractors, the ‘proceed to work’ was issued on 6 September, “and work has just started.
“An engineer from Ziro NH subdivision office is regularly visiting the work site without fail and is monitoring the work,” the letter added.
Daporijo-based All Upper Subansiri Non-Governmental Labour Welfare Association also termed the allegation “baseless and having not an iota of truth.
“NH and PWD highway engineers are regularly supervising the work for construction of road as per approved DPR,” the association said.
On the alleged speculation of misappropriation of project money, the association said the road maintenance work was in the initial stage, only five percent of the work has been done so far, “and no payment has been made to contractor till now.”
It appealed to the people to abstain from “mudslinging” and cooperate with the contractor, M/s PG Construction, for smooth execution of the road maintenance works.
