ITANAGAR, Oct 3: The Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court on Wednesday directed the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to provide an affidavit regarding the concerns raised by the commerce and other subject candidates before 9 October with orders to maintain status quo till then.
A single bench gave the direction on Wednesday after the standing counsel for the APPSC did not substantiate its arguments with an affidavit during the joint hearing of the petition filed by the commerce, and other subject candidates here at the court.
It was also informed that the commerce candidates had filed a re-petition against the speaking order issued by the APPSC on 25th September.
On 25 September, the APPSC had issued a speaking order saying that “there is no further requirement for any compensation, and re-conduct of preliminary examination is out of question.”
The number of petitioners from the commerce subject has also increased from 71 to 97.
Judge Nelson Sailo raised concern that the delay is affecting all candidates- the aggrieved as well as those who have qualified for the mains of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE).
The aggrieved candidates also said that “the case would have moved further if the commission had provided the required documents in the hearing today”.
“We are as disturbed by the entire delay as those who have qualified. We are still uncertain of the outcome of the case,” said the candidates.
While the commission had clarified its stand to the commerce candidates in its speaking order, the candidates say that they were dissatisfied with the clarification.
