SANGRAM, Oct 8: The body of a class 5 student of private school here in Kurung Kumey district was found near the official quarters of her father in the early hours of Monday.
According to the FIR lodged by the girl’s father, Gangte Talo, he was in Leel when he received information from his relatives about his child’s death, at around 7 am.
Some unknown person(s) had killed his daughter in the night of 7 October and left her body outside his quarters near the SDO’s office, he said. The father claimed that there was injury marks on her head, and that a rope was found tied around her neck.
The Sangram police station officer-in-charge (OC) informed that a case under Section 302 IPC has been registered against unknown persons and the body has been sent to Koloriang for postmortem.
“The report is still awaited. However, investigation in currently on,” informed the OC.
Meanwhile, the Gangte Welfare Society has strongly condemned the brutal murder and appealed to the law enforcing authorities to trace out the culprits and arrest them at the earliest.
