ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Chief Secretary Satya Gopal reviewed the status of old projects under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme during a state level executive committee meeting at the civil secretariat here on Tuesday.
DoNER Director Ravindra Chaudhary was also present.
Projects including the high-altitude sports complex in Tawang, construction of a sports complex in Jengging, establishment of a VKV in Changlang, augmentation of water supply to Boleng and Pasighat, water supply to JNV Roing, and the second phase of construction of the Magopam-Bichom road via Namfri, Ditching, Sacheda, Ramu Soto and Lichi were reviewed during the meeting.
The CS asked the chief engineers to not deviate from the laid down guidelines and follow the rule of law in the implementation of the works.
Emphasizing on quality work and avoiding discrepancies, he directed the executing departments to submit geo-tagged photographs, quarterly project reports, inspection reports, utilization certificates, and copies of the tender(s) floated in the newspapers to the DoNER ministry for early release of funds.
All commissioners, secretaries, and chief engineers concerned were present at the meeting.
Transport dept asked to innovate
Meanwhile, in a meeting of the State Task Force on Mobility (STFM), the CS asked the transport department to come up with innovative ideas “to improve the conventional mobility of the state, where it is practical and cheap, yet has strong last-line connectivity.”
Reiterating the prime minister’s address at the global mobility meet, MOVE, in New Delhi on 7 September, Gopal said the future of mobility of the state should be based on the 7Cs: common, connected, convenient, congestion-free, charged, clean, and cutting-edge, as pointed out by the PM.
It was decided during the STFM meeting to constitute a committee headed by Dr AC Verma and other senior officers to list out the challenges and ideas and suggest to the state government innovative solutions through which different issues of mobility can be addressed.
“All the technological solutions, however, should be taken keeping in view the pros and cons of environment issues,” the CS said.
The idea of electronic transport system, like e-buses and e-rickshaws, was also discussed.
Among others, the home commissioner, the transport secretary and the finance secretary were present at the meeting. (PRO, CS)
