YUPIA, Feb 6: The two-day district orientation on operationalization of health and wellness centres (HWCs) organised by the Papum Pare District Health Society began here at the ZPC hall on Wednesday.
The medical officers-in-charge of PHCs, CHCs, health and wellness officers and ANMs attended the programme.
At the outset, Deputy Commissioner cum District Health Society Chairman Dr Joram Beda handed over the tablets to ANMs of the district.
ADC In-charge Jummar Bam requested the participants to take benefit of the training on HWC.
Addressing the participants, District Medical Officer Dr Tasso Kampu Subu highlighted the concept of health and wellness centres and its importance.
She requested all MOs-in-charge to remain proactive and said that there should not be any communication gap among the officers and complete transparency should be maintained while implementing the HWC in all health facilities.
She also informed that a strong monitoring team will be constituted to monitor and supervise the programme.
HWC Assistant Nodal Officer Dr Dipu Lowang held the first technical session, while DRCHO Dr Worar Taku gave essential inputs.
The HWCs have been conceptualized to provide comprehensive primary health care, which ensures the highest possible level health and well being at all ages, through a set of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services.
Under the Ayushmaan Bharat initiative, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare envisions upgrading 1.5 lakh sub-centres (SCs) and all existing primary health centres and urban PHCs across the country to HWCs in phases by December 2022. (DIPRO)
