ITANAGAR, Feb 16: Former ministers and erstwhile BJP leaders Atum Welly and Kipa Tatar on Saturday joined the Congress party during a joining programme held at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here.
The programme was attended by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Takam Sanjoy, All India Congress Committee secretary Zenith Sangma, state Congress Legislature Party leader Takam Pario, and other senior party leaders.
Apart from the duo, two former zilla parishad chairpersons, Singe Milli from Anini and Lorang Loham from Tirap, along with 14 former anchal samiti members from Tirap and Dibang Valley districts also joined the party.
Welly and Kipa had tendered their resignation from the BJP on Thursday.
In their resignation letters to state BJP president Tapir Gao, the duo accused the party of violating the norms and procedures by announcing its MLA candidates in advance and not following the resolution taken in the state executive meeting which had been held at Pasighat.
