ITANAGAR, Feb 22: The Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) ministry sanctioned projects worth Rs 400 crore for Arunachal Pradesh during the 13th Inter-Ministerial Committee meeting on the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme on Friday.
The meeting was chaired by DoNER Secretary Naveen Verma through a video conference with Chief Secretary Satya Gopal at the secretariat building here, where Planning Secretary Himanshu Gupta, NESIDS & NLCPR Technical Board Chairman Dr Atop Lego Chairman, among others, were present.
The committee approved sanctioning of two projects during the meeting, taking the total sanctioned projects in the state to 19. The projects comprise construction of roads, infrastructure development of schools, augmentation of water supply, and sewerage management system, among others.
Gopal termed the sanctioning of the fund “a breakthrough for Arunachal Pradesh, as big projects have been selected, keeping in mind the requirements of the public at large.”
The CS informed that the state government will soon constitute a quality assurance team in order to strengthen the quality monitoring mechanism and check duplicity and “leakage of quality,” if there is any. (CSO)
