ITANAGAR, Feb 28: The Nyishi Youth Welfare Association (NYWA) has urged the state government to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the damages caused to private and public properties during the recent anti-PRC agitation.
In a representation to chief minister, the association alleged that, even though the state government
announced on the second day of the bandh, 22 February, that the PRC issue was being scrapped, the agitators continued damaging public and private properties worth crores of rupees, “causing immense pain to the citizens of capital complex.”
The NYWA also said the agitation sabotaged the celebration of Nyokum Yullo of the Nyishi community, claiming that the vehicles of some of the festival-goers were also damaged by the protestors.
“The behaviour of the illegal protestors has hurt the sentiments of all the citizens of the capital complex, especially that of the Nyishi community. Therefore, we seek an SIT investigation to find out who conspired these illegal acts of looting and damaging the public properties,” the NYWA said.
The association has served a 15-day ultimatum to the state government in this regard.
