Orgs condemn attack on ADC, demand arrest of miscreants

ITANAGAR, Mar 7: The Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers Association (APCSOA) and the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants who attacked and assaulted Nyapin Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kento Riba at Potin, Lower Subansiri District on Tuesday last.
According to CoSAAP, the miscreants forcefully stopped the car in which ADC was travelling, at Potin near an abandoned roadway restaurant and grievously injured the officer and his driver with sticks.
They looted money, important documents and a gun and fled away from the spot within 5 minutes.
Condemning the broad daylight attack on officer, the APCSOA urged the government to immediately set up an enquiry into the incident.
‘The dastardly act blatantly undermines the position and services provided by the administrators and it is aimed at silencing the administrators who are serving the Govt. and public despite being exposed to life threatening situations,’ the APCSOA added.
The officers association also strongly urged that, the state government must immediately provide PSOs against all the ADCs and administrators to protect them from any such ugly incidents.
‘Such incident not only hampers the effective performances of the officers but also morally dampens the working zeal of the Govt. officials and APCS officers in particular,’ the officers’ organization said.
Demanding stringent punishment to the miscreants as per the law, CoSAAP also urged the home department to provide security to all the important offices and officers in the state during the financial peg end, so that they can work peacefully with fear intimidation.
Expressing solidarity with ADC Kento Riba, APCSOA further demanded that adequate security must be provided to all the officers who are and will be performing magistrate and election duties ‘so that officers can perform their duties diligently without any air of doubts and uncertainty.’
On Thursday, CoSAAP Secretary General and Vice President Gonya Riba and Likha Tech visited the officer at Mob-2, here to enquire his wellbeing.
The Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) has demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the crime and awarding them exemplary punishment as per the law.
Terming the assault on a sincere and dedicated senior government officer while on duty as cowardice, the KAWA further appealed to the Nyapin Nyobia Sangram Phassang Students Union (NNSPSU) and the general public of Nyapin Nyobia area to cooperate with and help the district administration and police department in early arrest of the culprits.
“The attack on a govt. officer in broad day light has raised a very serious question mark on the state of law and order prevailing in the district and the miscreants involved in the incident has to be put behind the bar immediately,” it added.
